Matt and I spent last week visiting the Golz side of the family in North Carolina. It was really nice to catch up with them as neither of us had seen Jane, Parker, or A.J. since the wedding almost 2 years ago! Hard to believe.
It was also nice to finally feel the uncomfortable warmth of the summer sun. They “claimed” the weather last week was actually uncharacteristically cool, but for us wussy Pacific Northwesterners, the high 80s-low 90s and humid still felt plenty warm.
We spent the weekend at their lake house on Lake Wylie in South Carolina, and then spent the next action-packed week at their home in Charlotte. We went golfing a couple of times at their country club and spent another day at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. This non-profit, outdoor recreation and athletic training facility is also an official Olympic training site. Their activities include whitewater rafting & kayaking, flat-water kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, ziplining, and more. It was such a fun day!
Saturday, Matt and I ventured 2 hours inland to Asheville, NC and the Biltmore Estate for the Kling/Rhode wedding. Unfortunately, we didn’t leave enough time to actually tour much of the property (guess we’ll save that for another trip) but the wedding was simply stunning! Both the ceremony and the reception were held at Deerpark Courtyard.
It was probably the prettiest wedding we had been to and the ambiance definitely reminded us of our own wedding, only on a much larger scale. We were so happy to be there to help the happy couple celebrate!
