baby’s first shower

We spent last week with my family in Omaha. We were able to partake in the Annual Thanksgiving feast at my aunt’s house, as well as some traditional Christmas shopping on Friday. However, Saturday was a very special day for me. It was Baby’s first shower, hosted by my sisters and a good family friend/neighbor, Deb.

Here’s a brief recap:

First there were games. We had a Pregnancy Trivia (of which I scored 1/10 correctly). Luckily, I redeemed myself by being the only person to receive a perfect score on the Nursery Rhyme Trivia. Lastly, we played the traditional “guess how big Momma’s belly is using string.” For those unfamiliar, everyone cuts a string to, what they believe to be, the size of my belly. The person who comes closest wins. My aunt, Danita, took home the prize by getting within 1 inch of the correct circumference!

After games, there was any pregnant woman’s favorite part…cake!! First a diaper cake, and then an edible one – made by Cupcake Island. Both were ah-maz-ing!

The most impressive part was definitely the generosity of those that were there to celebrate with me and those that were there in spirit. I couldn’t believe all of the wonderful, and thoughtful, gifts we received. It really made everything start to seem much more “real.”

It was truly an incredible afternoon and I left with an overwhelming sense of how blessed I am…as well as a full trunk load of loot for Baby! A HUGE thank you to everyone and especially to Deb, Melia, and Kim. Baby is truly one lucky, lucky little guy.
